Take Good Care
All our fabrics are sourced from Europe, with the renowned, century-old Italian producer, Limonta, acting as our main supplier. Since our launch in 2006, we have worked with more than 100 fabrics, continuously experimenting with different weaves and yarns to offer luggage that is both distinctive and well-crafted. This has given us immense insight into the capabilities of our fabrics, ranging from natural cotton canvases to bulletproof nylons and custom-developed jacquard weaves.
All MISMO fabrics are treated with a water-repellent coating, making them resistant to immediate stains and droplets. However, only our nylon and polyester based articles can be considered 100% waterproof.
Should your MISMO pick up any stains while accompanying you, simply use a lightly dampened cloth or sponge with a little soap and water to spot-clean the fabric and then allow it to dry naturally.
We use bridle leather for handles and trimmings on most fabric bags and for accessories such as belts and key hangers. Our bridle leather is semi vegetable-tanned, custom-developed in Turkey and simply the most optimal leather available for our purposes.
The best way to clean bridle leather is to wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth and allow it to dry naturally. Applying a little leather balm or neutral wax polish occasionally will also help protect and nourish the leather, ensuring your product will last for many years to come. To care for your bridle leather, avoid extreme temperatures, rough handling and direct contact with wet and moist surfaces. Should the bridle leather get wet, simply leave it out to dry naturally away from direct heat. Once dry, check for any watermarks and apply a little polish or leather balm if necessary.
Over time, rubbing and friction can cause slight de-pigmentation when the top layers of wax and coloured finish rub off. This, unfortunately, is inevitable with constant use. However, the leather will also evolve to darken slightly and acquire a unique patina through use, which will give your leather goods even greater character.
MISMO uses leather that has undergone as few chemical processes as possible. Due to the natural dyeing process, the leather may vary in nuance and texture, which is integral to the living character of the product.
Over time, sunlight, oils and other factors will render the MISMO bag with an individual patina, which only adds to its beauty. With proper care and maintenance, a MISMO bag will provide you with years of enduring companionship. The best way to care for the full-grain leather and your MISMO product is simply to use it, but always to do so with care. Full-grain leather is a sturdy and hard-wearing natural material that can last for many years but it does have its limits. Avoid extreme temperatures, rough handling and direct contact with wet and moist surfaces.
We recommend treating full-grain leather with a leather conditioner when necessary. A leather conditioner provides moisture to rejuvenate the leather, keeping it supple and ensuring that it does not dry out, fade or crack. Treatment with leather conditioner will also give your MISMO bag a deeper, richer lustre and sheen while keeping it free of impurities.
